Super Awesome People: Entry #9
A Letter to My Niece
You may or may not have noticed this already, but the world can be a bit of a strange place. Or at least I think it is. People tell you to live your dream even though they know that sometimes it's almost impossible to succeed unless you have a rich aunt. Sorry. If I ever finish writing my book and more than one person reads it, I promise I'll be that rich aunt for you. Fingers crossed but it's a good thing you have another aunt and a couple of uncles!
Wait, I'm getting way ahead of myself. What if you don't know what your dream is yet? What if your dream changes? What if you have more than one or even fifteen dreams? What if you fail at a few (or many) things before you succeed? What if…? What if…? What if…? What if…? What if…? What if…? What if…? What if…? What if…?
Who cares! Who cares! Who cares! Who cares! Who cares! Who cares! Who cares! Who cares! Who cares! Who cares! Who cares! Who cares! Who cares!
Trust yourself no matter what anyone else says. Sometimes dreams do come true (not usually how you think they will), but sometimes they end and it's time to simply dream a new dream. Always remember when dreaming that new dream you haven’t failed; it's called moving on and it's your prerogative to decide if you’re ready to or not.
ALWAYS DREAM! But don’t just dream. If you want to do it, give it a good go. Work hard. Listen. Enjoy the process. Fight for it. Share what you know. Inspire others. Know that you and only you possess the strength, curiosity, empathy, willpower, kindness, understanding, and love to navigate your journey’s landscape.
Regardless of where you go, who you go with, or the lessons you choose to learn along the way always try to live in the moment, but also know that this is probably one of the most elusive skills you will ever attempt to master. I still suck at it. I’m not worried though because I’ll get it one day and so will you. If you get it before I do, think you could help me figure it out too?
I’m excited to witness your story and I’m lucky to know you in this life. In the end, Dr. Seuss has always said it best: “You're off to Great Places! Today is your day! Your mountain is waiting. So...get on your way!” Get out there and be even more super awesome than you already are!
